PODCAST: Boozy Movies Reviews “Jurassic World” & Totally Disagrees

Finally saw Jurassic World last night, which is a movie I’ve been anxiously anticipating ever since I heard they were making it. I just about lost it when they announced CHRIS PRATT would be the leading man. What could possibly go wrong?

I sat down with Rebekah Black, Sybil Summers and Richie Whitt after the movie and we discussed our thoughts. Our reviews were mixed, much like our drinks. Continue reading →

TEASER TRAILER- The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

OK, so I was pretty disappointed in Mockingjay Part 1 but it’s hard to NOT get a little excited when you watch this. Still have to wait until November 20th to see it, but you can get alerts from Fandango about buying early tickets by clicking HERE.
Oh, and (sniff) Philip Seymour Hoffman? Wasn’t prepared to see him.

MOMMY-MOVIE-REVIEW: “JAWS” With My Kids

I have 2 daughters, ages 7 and 11, and a LIST of movies I’ve wanted to show them since they were born. Most of my favorites, like The Color Purple and Pulp Fiction will have to wait until they’re older but I have been introducing others with mixed results. Last year, I showed them Jurassic Park, which they loved, and the year before that I watched Titanic with my oldest. We had tickets to a Titanic exhibit and I thought it would be fun to watch the movie beforehand. Emma cried nonstop as the ship sank though, and then accused me of child-abuse when I told her to “buck up.” Continue reading →

PODCAST: Boozy Movies Reviews “Spy” & Fights Over Jude Law’s Bald Spot

Well, look at that! We went and made a VIDEO this week instead of the usual podcast. My dear friend Steven Visneau, who is without a doubt THE MOST TALENTED photographer I know, said “Why don’t you let me film that movie review for you?” I think he (and possibly everyone else) was getting tired of hearing us scream into my tiny mic during the podcast. Whatever the reason, we have an actual YouTube video for you to watch this week. Sadly, Sybil Summers & Richie Whitt couldn’t join us because…well, you’ll see why. Enjoy!

My “Entourage” Movie Review…By Proxy

I missed the Entourage screening last night because my car broke down. That’s the first time in my illustrious Film Critic Career (read that as sarcasm) that I’ve completely missed the screening of a big movie. Once my oldest daughter got sick before the last Harry Potter screening, but I just dragged her with me.

She asked me, “Who do you love more? Me or Harry Potter?”

I told her to HUSH and put on some pants. Another time I had to take my youngest to see The Tourist with me because my childcare fell through. Lucy was only 3 at the time and kicked the seat in front of us through the whole movie. She was wearing shoes that lit-up so everytime she stomped, our seats turned into a tiny disco. Honestly, it was more entertaing than the movie. Continue reading →

PODCAST: Boozy Movies Reviews “San Andreas” and Ponders What ‘CGI’ Stands For

I saw San Andreas last night with Richie Whitt and Rebekah Black, then we had pink, fluffy cocktails and chatted about it. Sybil Summers didn’t join us this week because she thought it looked like a stupid movie. SHE WAS WRONG!

You could be like Sybil and assume the worst, or you could listen to our podcast and find out for sure.

Make sure you grab free passes to see Melissa McCarthy in Spy with us NEXT week. You can do that by clicking HERE. Richie Whitt assumes THAT ONE will be bad but you know what happens when you ASSUME things, right? You make an Ass-Hat…or something.

VIDEO: Summer Movie Chat on “Good Morning Texas”

I was TERRIFIED about being on TV today but I think it went pretty well. I DID say “disingenuine” which I’m pretty sure isn’t even a word, but I held it together otherwise. Thanks again to Christine Visneau of Veecaravan for outfitting me and to everyone at Good Morning Texas for having me on. I’ll be back next month to review Jurassic World and I heard they might have something fun/scary in store!

PODCAST: Boozy Movies Reviews “Poltergeist” & Tells Some Ghost Stories of Their Own

We were super excited about the podcast this week, for various reasons. First of all, we were all jazzed about seeing the remake of Poltergeist, but also because we had a real-live MOVIE STAR as our Guest Film Critic. Brad Hawkins from the movie Boyhood joined us and was adorable, like usual. If you’ve seen Boyhood, Brad played this guy.

Mommy-Movie-Review: Disney’s “Tomorrowland”

Disney’s Tomorrowland asks the question, “What would happen if all the world’s greatest scientists, artists and creative thinkers were brought to live in one place? Could they build a better world?”

Tomorrowland is that place but we soon learn it isn’t the utopia it’s creators intended. George Clooney’s “Frank” and Britt Robertson’s “Casey” are called up to Tomorrowland at different times but by the same young recruiter (played by Raffey Cassidy). The idealistic wonderland has run across hard times and needs their help to rebuild. Continue reading →
