My husband and I have been together for over 20 years, and during that time, we’ve developed our own language. It’s the same English you’re familiar with, but peppered with film, TV and other cultural references from the past two decades. Some movies or TV shows get more play than others (specifically Inglourious Basterds, Fargo, Dumb and Dumber and both volumes of Kill Bill) but nothing gets quoted as much as the first Super Troopers. We probably work in “Meow” or “He can’t pull over any further” weekly, and if we order a drink, it’s always a “liter of Cola.” I even caught our daughters chugging syrup recently, and checked our DVDs to see if they’d been watching Super Troopers.
So, needless to say, we’re pretty pumped about Super Troopers 2. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that I don’t even care if this movie sucks. It’s like hanging out with your old college buddy, who makes you laugh just as much as he embarrasses you.
