MOMMY MOVIE REVIEW: Is Dwayne Johnson’s “Rampage” OK for Kids?

I simply can’t get to every movie. This time of year gets especially tough because of my oldest daughter’s birthday, which just happened to fall on the night of the Rampage screening. She was totally disinterested in this movie, so it came down to a choice between celebrating-my-daughter’s-birthday and seeing-The-Rock’s-new-movie.
You know the choice I had to make.
Fortunately, I have friends like Brooke, who DID want to see Rampage. She even offered to take her 11-year-old son AND to write a review for me. This is what Brooke had to say about Rampage:
Solid movie, plenty of action, drama, comedy and a small amount of romance in one. Recommendation for kids- There are a few curse words but nothing more than you hear on TV. However, there are some hand gestures by the gorilla that aren’t kid appropriate. My 11-year-old son attended with me and we both had a great time. He liked the movie a lot and said he wanted to play the game now. I would definitely recommend watching in Imax due to the action scenes. This will probably wind up in our DVD collection once it is released. (B+)
Rampage is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for “sequences of violence, action and destruction, brief language, and crude gestures,” so it sounds like Brooke nailed it on the head. It also sounds like she enjoyed it just as much as her kid did.
So THANKS to Brooke and her boy for doing my work for me and for helping us all out in the process! Look how cute they are.

  1. Sorry it didn’t help Brian. I imagine a kid who loved Pacific Rim: Uprising would be able to handle this one, though. I think Skull Island surprised all of us with it’s violence.
