Don’t walk into Rocketman expecting the Elton John version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Sure, it’s the same type of rags-to-riches through rock-n-roll flick, plus it’s also directed by Dexter Fletcher (who took over directing Bohemian Rhapsody after Bryan Singer pulled a Bryan Singer). This is Elton John’s story though, so expect Rocketman to be quite unlike anything you’ve seen before. John acts as Executive Producer as well, so prepare yourself for far more music, costumes and even fantasy sequences than you normally see in biopics. Even better, you can see Rocketman EARLY and FOR FREE, thanks to me! Continue reading →
Someone did me a big favor before I saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
They told me it was awful.
I searched for a second opinion online, and found loads of critics who called Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom lifeless, intellectually insulting, and possibly the worst in the series. I had the world’s lowest expectations when I saw it and because of that, I kind of liked Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Yes, it’s lifeless, far-fetched and you might shake your head at it’s more ridiculous moments, but Jurassic World: Fallen World is also a cinematic roller-coaster ride that offers one of the most inspired endings from the series yet.
But is it OK for kids??? Continue reading →
Have you ever seen a movie trailer and thought, “Where the HELL did that come from? Why haven’t I heard about this movie???”
Well, that’s how I felt when I watched the trailer for the based-on-actual-events movie Gold. It stars Matthew McConaughey as the head of a failing mining company, who heads to Indonesia in search of gold. The treasure trove that should solve his problems eventually lands him in hot water, which is when Gold supposedly gets great. Click HERE if you’d like to see Gold EARLY and FOR FREE, then watch the trailer below. Also, let’s send props to McConaughey for shaving his head and gaining 25 pounds to look less attractive for this role. I’m sure his wife just LOVED that.
Don’t you hate it when you finally get to the theater but end up wasting money on some lousy flick that wasn’t worth the hours spent watching it? NEVER AGAIN my friend, all thanks to the Julie Says So Top 8 Movies to See RIGHT NOW! There’s eight of them, so surely you can find one in there that’ll make you happy. Continue reading →
Have you run out of things to do with your kids? There are still a handful of Summer Break weeks left and we’re almost out of KID’S MOVIES to see with them. If you’re like my family, you’ve seen them ALL. Even the ones that were so bad, you left your kids alone in the theater to play Pokemon Go in the lobby.
Fortunately for us, Disney is releasing Pete’s Dragon on August 12th. It stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Robert Redford, and is about an orphaned boy and his best friend, who just happens to be a dragon. This one appeals to me because I love a-boy-and-his-monster tales like Iron Giant and How to Train Your Dragon. I’m also a big fan of Karl Urban (for reasons that need no explanation) and he plays “Gavin” in this movie, whatever that means.
If you’d like to take your kids to see Pete’s Dragon, just click HERE to get your passes, then watch the trailer below. Ooooh, the dragon is FUZZY! And Karl Urban is BAD!
I was running late for my “Good Morning Texas” appearance this morning, plus I had my daughters with me, since they’re out of school. We were sitting in stand-still traffic when Lucy noticed that a May Fly was on the seat right next to her. Nonstop shrieking and thrashing ensued, which is always great when you’re stressed out and running late. I finally had to remove my shoe, lean as far as I could into the backseat, and squash it with my heel. That pretty much set the stage for the rest of the morning.
Click HERE to see my review of Jurassic World, and THANKS AGAIN to everyone at “Good Morning Texas” for having me on. I hope they invite me back!
Thanks also to my friend Meredith Yates with Stella & Dot for providing my accessories today. I got so many compliments on that awesome necklace!
You can forget all the “KIDS” movies that are coming out this summer. My girls want to see the movie that has dinosaurs running amok and eating humans like they’re donuts. Yes, my daughters want to see Jurassic World and since they’re 7 and 11-years-old, I have mixed feelings about that. I’m apparently not alone either because I’ve gotten several messages from friends who want to know if it’s “Kid Friendly.” As is usually the case, that all depends on the KID. Continue reading →
Finally saw Jurassic World last night, which is a movie I’ve been anxiously anticipating ever since I heard they were making it. I just about lost it when they announced CHRIS PRATT would be the leading man. What could possibly go wrong?
I sat down with Rebekah Black, Sybil Summers and Richie Whitt after the movie and we discussed our thoughts. Our reviews were mixed, much like our drinks. Continue reading →
