We’ve got reviews for some big new streaming shows this week, like We Crashed, Severance & the second season of Upload. We’ll tell you if The Lost City is worth the ticket price and discuss whether or not anyone (except the nominees) cares about the Oscars this year. Plus, we have a look at the creepy new A24 flick, Men. Remember to find more reviews and free movie passes at JulieSaysSo.com!
The Lost City stars Sandra Bullock as a successful romance novelist who stumbles into an adventure with her cover model (played by Channing Tatum). It’s clearly a riff on old-school rom-coms and the flashy trailer got everyone’s attention. That’s how this relatively by-the-books love story became one of the most-anticipated films of the year (well, so far).Continue reading →
There haven’t been many options for kids in theaters lately, but that changes in a big way with Smallfoot! Starring Channing Tatum, Zendaya, James Corden and LeBron James, it tells the story of a Yeti who finds a terrifying small-footed creature, then sets out to prove it’s existence to his unbelieving village. So, who wants to see Smallfoot EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →
There are a ton of movies out now, but it’s been a while since a just-for-kids kind of flick has hit theaters. The end of September brings two big ones our way though, and one smaller picture that kids will love, even if they haven’t heard of it yet.
The first is one that’s opening this weekend (9/21), The House With a Clock in Its Walls.

I started reviewing movies for Trudi & Jim at WCXS in Detroit back in February when Fifty Shades of Grey came out. I love these guys because A) Trudi is awesome and because B) Jim lived in Plano & worked at KVIL for a while. He is awesome as well. I also love these guy because C) they will let me talk & talk & TALK. Any other radio stations I talk to keep my reviews under five minutes. This review is 14 MINUTES LONG! Lord knows, I could talk for DAYS if given the chance.
This week we discussed Magic Mike XXL, Ted 2, and your chance to see Trainwreck WITH Amy Schumer in NYC!
Thanks again to Trudi & Jim! Hope we can get cocktails together one of these days!
We were lucky enough to catch an early screening of Magic Mike XXL and to be honest, things got out of hand. There were stacks of fake money and hot guys dancing on boxes, and that was before the movie even started! I was joined by the usual Boozy Movies Film Critics; Rebekah Black, Sybil Summers and Richie Whitt but we also had a Special Guest Critic, Jasmine Sadry from Jagger Mornings on 102.1 the Edge! Here’s what we thought of the movie and well….someone just MIGHT have to turn in their Film-Critic Card.
Yeah that’s right. We get to see it EARLY! There’s a special prescreening this upcoming Thursday at the Studio Movie Grill and I’ve got your passes! Just click HERE to claim those and show up early. You’ll want to save a spot in line to make sure you get in. I’ll be there with my “Boozy Movies” crew (Rebekah Black, Sybil Summers & Richie Whitt) AND this week we’ll be joined by Guest Film Critic Jasmine Sadry. Snag those passes and in the meantime, here’s a little treat to tide us over.
Jupiter Ascending is the latest from the Writing-Directing Wachowski siblings. You loved their work on the Matrix but if you’re anything like the rest of us, you’ve been pretty disappointed with what they’ve put out since. Expectations for this one have been high (with it’s 175 million dollar budget) but the release date was continuously delayed and those trailers were pretty freaking confusing.
I honestly didn’t expect to like this movie at all. As the theater lights went down, the critic sitting next to me said, “This movie is gonna be awful,” and I fully agreed with her. Then I spent the next half-hour being totally enthralled. Unfortunately, Jupiter Ascending is just over 2 hours long. Continue reading →
