HEADS UP: The State Fair of Texas Debuts “Thrifty Thursdays”

Surely you know by now that The State Fair of Texas kicks off this Friday (9/25) and will run through October 18th. What are you going to eat first? Are you going to wait in line for one of those Deep Fried Carrot Cakes or will you head straight to Fletcher’s for a corny dog? That’s what we always do. We also grab a beer and some fried onion strings that are guaranteed to make us fart uncontrollably for the rest of the night. The sad part about woofing down your food as soon as you get to the Fair is that you almost ALWAYS run out of coupons. Then you have to go buy more if you plan to ride the ferris wheel or some other instrument of death. Well, the State Fair has an answer to that problem this year.

It’s Thrifty Thursdays! Participating vendors will now offer discounted food on Thursdays, and we’re not just talking 1 or 2 coupons off. Continue reading →

BLOG: Welcome Home (Please Don’t Break Anything)

We got the keys to our new house yesterday. We’re having some work done on it and the actual move-in date is weeks away but we had a celebratory toast in the empty kitchen last night. I still can’t believe it’s really happening.

See, we put our old house on the market a year ago but honestly, this move has been in the works for 7 years. We never intended to stay in Texas and discussed moving to Chicago, Atlanta, and even Denver a few times. The Chicago move almost happened but every time we got close to pulling the trigger, we chickened out. Continue reading →

Rihanna & Jim Parsons are coming to Plano TODAY!

Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and Rihanna (Please,You Know Who She Is) are coming to town and will be walking the red carpet at the Cinemark West Plano TODAY at 5pm! They’re starring together in the new movie Home (opening March 27th) and are in Texas for the Premiere. Special thanks to Cheryl Jackson and Minnie’s Food Pantry for making THAT happen! 

Organizers are usually hush-hush about local premieres when celebrities are attending but not this time! They hope to have big crowds cheering for Jim & Rihanna so feel free to come on out! Continue reading →
