Most people in the movie industry DREAD the idea of being called a Neanderthal right now or, even worse, a Cave Man. The folks at Aardman Animation (Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit) don’t really see it that way, though. In fact, the hero of their latest release, Early Man, just happens to be a Cave Man who has to save his tribe from the evils of the Stone Age. It has a stellar cast of voice-actors too, including Tom Hiddleston, Maisie Williams and Eddie Redmayne. Even better, I have passes to see Early Man EARLY and FOR FREE! Continue reading →
(OK, so I wrote this right before Thanksgiving, but the list still applies. I would only add Jackie with Natalie Portman this week, IF it happens to be playing in your town.)
What are you supposed to do with your relatives, once you’ve eaten all the food and run out of things to talk about? You GO TO THE MOVIES, of course! The sooner the better too, before anyone starts talking about politics again. Here’s my list of the Top 8 Movies to See Over Thanksgiving Weekend, which has a little something for everyone. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get my hopes WAY up for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It’s the latest from J.K. Rowling and introduces us to a whole new section of the Harry Potter universe, so OF COURSE I let my expectations run wild.
But did Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them live up to the promise or leave me disappointed? Continue reading →
It isn’t easy to watch myself on TV. Sometimes, I talk too fast and forget things. Other times, I mispronounce actors’ names or use words that don’t exist. Today, I managed to do all four on Good Morning Texas, and even worked in the word “fictitional.” Nope, it’s not a word. I did, however, get to review new movies like Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, Arrival, and Manchester By the Sea. I also got to talk about some upcoming flicks I’m jazzed about, like Nocturnal Animals and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Click HERE to watch the segment. Special THANKS to Pete Delkus, who joined Jane McGarry and I in our movie-chat. Sorry I went total FAN GIRL on you, Delkus!
My daughter has been asking for months, “Mom, when is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opening??? You’re taking us to that one, right?” It’s a ridiculous question because she knows I’m as excited to see it as she is. I also know that my daughters would stage a small but very shrill riot if I saw it with anyone but them.
I hope you’re pumped to see it too because I have free passes!!!
If YOU would like to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, click HERE to claim your passes, then go check your pantry. See, The North Texas Food Bank is sponsoring this screening and they want to provide a Fantastic Feast to a hungry family. That’s why they’re asking you to bring 3 canned goods to donate at the screening. They’ll give you a Fantastic Beasts goodie to say THANKS! So, grab your passes and then take a minute to watch the trailer with me. Is it weird that it gives me chills?
This week on Today with Kandace, I covered the latest from J.K. Rowling, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I can’t tell you how JAZZED I am about that movie! I also have a new DVD suggestion and a classic flick to share with your kids, though it might turn them vegan. Remember to catch Today with Kandace weekday mornings at 8:30 on KXTA 21. (And yeah, I have no idea what’s going on with my mouth in the picture above. Looks like I just ate a lemon.)
