I remember how completely NOT interested I was in the first LEGO Movie. I even told my daughters to keep their expectations low because it was “probably going to be goofy.” Then The LEGO Movie was goofy, but in the most wonderful, fun-to-watch way! I’ve enjoyed every LEGO Movie that’s come out since (yes, even LEGO Ninjago) so I’m especially jazzed about The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. So, who wants to see it EARLY and FOR FREE with me? Every now and then, I see a movie trailer that’s so offensive, I can’t even decide how I feel about it. Such is the case for The Happytime Murders. This movie stars Melissa McCarthy as an investigator who has to figure out who’s killing a bunch of out-of-work Muppets.
I sh*t you not.
While there seems to be a wealth of material here, director Brian Henson (yeah, Jim Henson’s SON) has gone as nasty as humanly possible with the concept. Want proof? Just watch the trailer, but ALONE and with the volume turned WAY DOWN. And good God, don’t even attempt to watch it at work!
THAT’S how bad the trailer for The Happytime Murders is, and yet I still found myself laughing at it. Not normal laughter, mind you. No, that laugh you have when you kind of hate yourself for laughing.
So, do you still want to see The Happytime Murders EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →
Here’s the latest “Julie Says So” MOVIE MINUTE, featuring reviews for Ocean’s 8 and Hereditary. I’ve also got the TOP 5 MOVIES to see now, the HOTTEST NEW TRAILER OF THE WEEK, and I’m always getting more Freebies for the FREE MOVIE PASSES page.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see all the movies this week, so click HERE to see what critics thought of Ocean’s 8, HERE to see what they thought of Hotel Artemis, and HERE to read about Won’t You Be My Neighbor. My buddy Kristin Lonergan got FREE PASSES to see the Fred Rogers documentary from my website, and wrote this review:
“Mister Rogers’ message never changed. No matter the decade, no matter the daily news headline, Mister Rogers was true to the belief that each one of us is special. We each hold the power of love and to be loved, no matter what. You can see it on the faces of those who knew him best, he walked the walk. You can’t help feel hopeful and completely capable after you see this documentary. He was universally kind and genuine.”
Dang it, I need to see that movie! Please watch the MOVIE MINUTE below and subscribe to my YouTube channel. My kids still pick on me for having so few subscribers!
I felt pretty sad when I walked out of the theater today, after watching The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. It was similar to the sadness I felt when I finished the final Hunger Games book, but THEN I thought, “Well, at least I have the movies to look forward to.”
Sigh. Continue reading →
We were lucky enough to catch an early screening of Magic Mike XXL and to be honest, things got out of hand. There were stacks of fake money and hot guys dancing on boxes, and that was before the movie even started! I was joined by the usual Boozy Movies Film Critics; Rebekah Black, Sybil Summers and Richie Whitt but we also had a Special Guest Critic, Jasmine Sadry from Jagger Mornings on 102.1 the Edge! Here’s what we thought of the movie and well….someone just MIGHT have to turn in their Film-Critic Card.
OK, so I was pretty disappointed in Mockingjay Part 1 but it’s hard to NOT get a little excited when you watch this. Still have to wait until November 20th to see it, but you can get alerts from Fandango about buying early tickets by clicking HERE.
Oh, and (sniff) Philip Seymour Hoffman? Wasn’t prepared to see him.
