FREE MOVIE PASSES: See Denzel Washington’s “The Equalizer 2” EARLY & FOR FREE

Denzel Washington is seriously awesome. You already knew that, but he’s actually so awesome that you don’t even know all the of the awesome stuff he’s done. Like, did you know that Denzel Washington helped send Chadwick Boseman to Oxford? That’s right. The Black Panther star was accepted to the school but couldn’t afford to go, so actress Phylicia Rashad reached out to some of her famous friends and asked for help. Boseman didn’t even know that Denzel Washington had footed the bill until he’d finished his classes (read the whole story HERE).
How cool is that?
Denzel Washington also inadvertently saved the disastrous 2017 Oscar’s ceremony. Host Jimmy Kimmel recently admitted that he was as flustered as everyone else onstage when they realized the wrong winner had been announced. Kimmel looked into the audience during the mayhem and locked eyes with Washington, who pointed at Moonlight director Barry Jenkins and said, “Bring him to the mic.” It was exactly what the moment called for, and Jimmy Kimmel thanked Denzel for it when he was on his show recently (watch that HERE).
Now you need a little Denzel Washington, don’t you?
That’s great because I have passes to see his new movie, The Equalizer 2 EARLY and FOR FREE! Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Sorry to Bother You” EARLY & FOR FREE

If you aren’t excited about the film Sorry to Bother You, you must not have read any of it’s crazy-enthusiastic reviews. One of my favorites comes from Alex Arabian of filminquiry.com, who says this:
Sorry To Bother You is an intelligent, batshit crazy satire that offers plenty of the theater of the absurd, a standout performance from Lakeith Stanfield, the most original script of the past two years, and plenty of laughs and food for thought.”
Sounds pretty great, right? You can read the rest of that review HERE (or browse through the other glowing Rotten Tomatoes reviews HERE), OR you could just grab FREE PASSES to see Sorry to Bother You from me! Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Tag” EARLY & FOR FREE

Think for a minute about some of the stupid things you did with your friends when you were a kid? Now image that you continued that nonsense into adulthood and raised the stakes even higher. Well, that’s exactly what Tag is about and, believe it or not, it’s based on a true story.
Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm, Ed Helms, Hannibal Buress and Jake Johnson star as classmates who’ve been playing the same game of Tag for thirty years. This continuous battle has taken them all around the world, but one of them is ready to retire. Will his buddies let him? Does it really matter if you’re seeing Tag EARLY and FOR FREE? FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” EARLY & FOR FREE

Why do you think everyone is flipping out over Won’t You Be My Neighbor? This documentary about Fred Rogers and his Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood has been blowing audiences out of the water at film festivals everywhere. Even it’s trailer moves most people to tears (me included) with long forgotten images of Mr. McFeely, Lady Aberlin and of course, those famous blue sneakers. What is it about this TV show and especially this man that seems so important and necessary right now? Could it be Fred Rogers’ commitment to children, or to honesty, or his continued assertion that everyone is special and deserving of love? I don’t know, but I’m tearing up just thinking about it and simply can’t wait too see this movie! So, do you want to see Won’t You Be My Neighbor EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →

Woodley & Claflin

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Adrift” EARLY & FOR FREE

Imagine meeting the love of your life, who then asks you to sail across the ocean with him? Sounds pretty romantic doesn’t it? Well, that’s exactly what happened to Tami Oldham and it was just as beautiful as it sounds, until they sailed right into a massive hurricane. Oldham wrote a book about their journey, called Red Sky in Mourning: A True Story of Love, Loss and Survival at Sea, which has been turned into the movie Adrift (starring Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin). It looks pretty incredible and, after her brilliant performance in Big Little Lies, I’d watch Shailene Woodley in anything. If you feel the same way, Continue reading →

If you’re looking for a cheap (or FREE) Mother’s Day gift for Mom, this Book Club screening might be just the thing. FREE MOVIE PASSES: Take Your Kids to a FREE SCREENING of “Show Dogs”

It’s been a while since we’ve had a straight-up Kids’ Flick to talk about, and Show Dogs definitely fits the bill. This one stars Chris “Ludacris” Bridges as a police dog who has to go undercover at a dog show to stop a bad guy. Will Arnett also stars, along with some pretty high-powered voice-talent, including Stanley Tucci, Alan Cumming, Shaquille O’Neal and RuPaul. If you’d like to take your kids to a Saturday screening of Show Dogs, Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Super Troopers 2” EARLY & FOR FREE

My husband and I have been together for over 20 years, and during that time, we’ve developed our own language. It’s the same English you’re familiar with, but peppered with film, TV and other cultural references from the past two decades. Some movies or TV shows get more play than others (specifically Inglourious Basterds, Fargo, Dumb and Dumber and both volumes of Kill Bill) but nothing gets quoted as much as the first Super Troopers. We probably work in “Meow” or “He can’t pull over any further” weekly, and if we order a drink, it’s always a “liter of Cola.” I even caught our daughters chugging syrup recently, and checked our DVDs to see if they’d been watching Super Troopers.
So, needless to say, we’re pretty pumped about Super Troopers 2. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that I don’t even care if this movie sucks. It’s like hanging out with your old college buddy, who makes you laugh just as much as he embarrasses you. If you agree and would like to see Super Troopers 2 EARLY and FOR FREE, Continue reading →

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Rampage” EARLY & FOR FREE

Honestly, the first time I saw the trailer for Dwayne Johnson’s new movie Rampage, I thought it was a joke. I mean, The Rock has a pet gorilla that goes radioactive and starts destroying a city? Then a giant, flying werewolf gets involved and the only person who can save us is, of course, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson? It just SOUNDS like something from Saturday Night Light, right? But I felt the same way about San Andreas when I saw the trailer, and I ended up liking that movie. I also rolled my eyes so hard it hurt when I saw The Rock in the new Jumanji trailer, and I kind of loved that one. So who knows? Maybe Rampage will end up being fantastic, but we should probably see it FOR FREE, just in case. Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “I Feel Pretty” EARLY & FOR FREE

There’s something about this movie that bums me out profoundly. Amy Schumer stars in I Feel Pretty, about a woman who hits her head and starts believing she’s the most beautiful and capable person in the world. She, in turn, finds the happiness and success she’s always dreamed of, but what will happen when she finds out her appearance never changed? If you’d like to know what happens next, Continue reading →
