Read the cast-list of The House and it looks like all of your favorite Parks and Recreation cast members AND Will Ferrel. In fact, Ferrel and Amy Poehler haven’t starred in a movie together since Blades of Glory in 2007. Seems like they should be putting something out yearly, doesn’t it? In this one, they play parents who start an illegal casino in their home to raise money for their daughter’s college tuition. Continue reading →
Before you roll your eyes and tell me the world doesn’t need another Transformers movie, do us both a favor and watch the Transformers: The Last Knight trailer below. I have no idea what the HELL is going on but it looks kind of…dare I say it…GOOD? It won’t matter either way if you get to see it EARLY and FOR FREE though, right? Continue reading →
The setting for The Beguiled is a girl’s school in Virginia during the Civil War. Young women are sheltered there from the horrors of war, when they take in a wounded soldier. The soldier is played by Colin Farrell so you know EXACTLY where this story is heading. He starts working his way through the ladies when something goes horribly awry, which is why you have to see The Beguiled. Continue reading →
Rough Night stars Scarlett Johansson, Zoë Kravitz, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell and Ilana Glazer and I would love a night out with any of them. Well, maybe not Scarlett Johansson. She seems like that one really hot friend who goes out with you but spends the whole night texting her boyfriend. Scarlett would sit in the corner ignoring everyone while Kate, Ilana, Jillian and Zoë planned something wild, fun, and probably illegal…like killing a stripper. BY ACCIDENT, of course! So, who wants to see Rough Night EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →
Child actors freak me out. Especially the really good ones. I mean, where are they pulling that emotion from? Two of my favorite young actors are teaming up this month for a movie called The Book of Henry. Jaeden Lieberher plays Henry, who tries to help a classmate deal with a dangerous secret. His little brother Peter (Jacob Tremblay) and mother (Naomi Watts) end up playing parts in Henry’s daring rescue plan. You remember Jaeden as the Bill Murray’s young pal in St. Vincent and Jacob Tremblay gave a heartbreaking (and Oscar worthy) performance in Room. Their new movie opens June 16th but you can see it EARLY and FOR FREE! Continue reading →
No, it isn’t Boss Baby. It isn’t Baby Mama, either. While we’re at it, Baby Driver isn’t Bridget Jones’s Baby, Rosemary’s Baby or any other BABY movie that would make you readily dismiss it. Baby Driver is actually the latest from Writer/Director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs the World) and it tells the story of a young get-away driver who is pulled into a dangerous heist. Ansel Egort plays Baby alongside a cast including Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, Flea, Jon Hamm and a whole host of other people you’d like to have drinks with. If you still aren’t interested in Baby Driver, know that critics are FLIPPING OUT over it. Here’s just one of the raves from Jada Yuan at Vulture.com:
“Plays out like blasting your coolest friend’s record collection in your car at 100 mph on the Atlanta freeway while cops close in on all sides – essentially what happens in the movie again and again, to always-riveting effect.”
So, NOW do you want to see Baby Driver EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →
Are you one of those people who rolls their eyes at the big blockbusters that come out this time of year? Would you prefer something quiet, but filled with dread and possibly…a little sex? Then YOU should grab passes to see My Cousin Rachel, starring Rachel Weisz as an Englishwoman who may or may not be a seductress/murderer. It’s based on a Daphne Du Maurier novel, who also wrote what became Alfred Hitchcock’s Rebecca and The Birds. My favorite part of this movie is that Rachel’s cousin, Phillip, falls in love with her. He’s played by Sam Claflin, who is a full 17-years-younger than Rachel Weisz. Continue reading →
Is it strange that I read the Captain Underpants books long before I had kids?
My friend (and former 102.1 the Edge co-worker) Jessie Jessup introduced me to these stories about kids who turn their principal into a superhero years ago. I still have a few dog-eared copies left, which is why I was thrilled (and a little apprehensive) when I heard that Dreamworks was making a movie out of them.
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie stars Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch as George and Harold. Ed Helms voices their cantankerous principal, Mr. Krupp who eventually becomes Captain Underpants. Yes, I know all of this sounds ridiculous but that’s exactly WHY the books were so awesome and why the movie just might be.

If you were drowning in an ocean, would you rather have Zac Efron save you or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson? Yes, I know it’s a stupid question but they’re both starring as lifeguards in the big-screen version of Baywatch, so answer it anyway. Sure, Zac is all gorgeous and talented but I’m not sure he could drag my screaming, thrashing body out of the water. The Rock, on the other hand, would throw me over his shoulder and glide to shore without even a splash. You know he’d have that patented Concerned-Dwayne-Johnson scowl on his face the whole time, too. Hmmm, while we’re pondering this very important question, why don’t you go ahead and grab passes to see the new Baywatch? Continue reading →
If I’m being perfectly honest, I’d admit that I haven’t been a fan of Johnny Depp for years now. I’m not entirely sure why that is. Maybe he did too many stinkers like Mordecai and Dark Shadows, or maybe it’s just been too long since I’ve seen him without wigs and make-up. Whatever the reason, I no longer love Johnny Depp UNLESS he’s playing Captain Jack Sparrow. I even liked the last Pirates of the Caribbean: Stranger Tides (one of the few critics who DID), because of the delicious back-and-forth between Captain Jack and his ex-girlfriend, Angelica (Penelope Cruz). Depp gets better to me each time he dons the dreadlocks and boots, which is why I’m giving away passes to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Continue reading →
