FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “On the Basis of Sex” EARLY & FOR FREE

On the Basis of Sex sounds like some dirty comedy that would star Dakota Johnson or Rebel Wilson, but it’s actually quite the opposite. This movie tells the story of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and how she challenged gender-discrimination laws during the early years of her career. It stars Felicity Jones as Ginsburg, before she ever became a Supreme Court Justice, and Armie Hammer as her husband, Marty. So, who wants to see On the Basis of Sex EARLY and FOR FREE? Vice

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See Christian Bale in “Vice” EARLY & FOR FREE

Remember all the times you lusted after Christian Bale in those Batman movies? Or maybe you left American Psycho all thirsty from the shower scene, even though he was playing a sadistic bastard. We’ve all had our Christian Bale thoughts, but check him out in that photo above. Believe it or not, that’s him playing Dick Cheney in the movie Vice. Bale is not the only creative-casting choice from this movie either. Sam Rockwell plays a young George W. Bush and Amy Adams plays the Vice-President’s wife, Lynne Cheney in this story of the their time in office. So, who wants to see Vice EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Escape Room” EARLY & FOR FREE

Have you tried one of those escape rooms yet? If so, were you able to actually escape? I’ve tried TWICE now and still haven’t made it out, which makes the premise of Escape Room pretty scary. A group of strangers compete in an escape room, supposedly for a cash prize. They’re actually playing to survive, which means I’d be dead two times over by now. So, who wants to see Escape Room EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Mary Queen of Scots” EARLY & FOR FREE

Did Thanksgiving stir up any old sibling rivalries? Maybe you were fighting with your sister about the stuffing and how it shouldn’t be made with cornbread, then it suddenly turned into a simmering war that’s been waging twenty years? If so, it still wasn’t as toxic as the battle that wages between Mary Stuart and her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I in Mary Queen of Scots. Academy Award nominees Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie take on the roles of rival queens and tear into each other like Joan Collins and Linda Evans. Is that reference too vague? Well, who cares when you can see Mary Queen of Scots EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →

Hugh Jackman

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “The Front Runner” EARLY & FOR FREE

Maybe it seemed like a great idea to release The Front Runner during the mid-term elections. What better time to tell a story about squandered political promise? Those in charge probably didn’t think about the nonstop political ads we’ve been force-fed lately or the fact that some people will want to crawl into a hole and live there after November 6th. Well, push that political-malaise aside and remember that Hugh Jackman plays Gary Hart. We love that guy so much, we even forgave his version of P.T. Barnum. The Front Runner is also from Oscar-nominated director Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air, Tully), so he’s bound to do something twisty and revealing with the story, right? Well, it won’t matter either way if you see The Front Runner EARLY and FOR FREE! Continue reading →

Tiffany Haddish

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See Tyler Perry’s “Nobody’s Fool” EARLY & FOR FREE

If you watched the Emmy’s recently and were bummed that Tiffany Haddish didn’t show up in her white Alexander McQueen dress, I’ve got news for you! She actually wears it a fifth time in her new movie, Nobody’s Fool (click HERE if you don’t know the story behind that dress). Haddish stars as an ex-con who gets out of prison and reunites with her sister, played by Tika Sumpter. It’s the latest from Tyler Perry and also stars Whoopi Goldberg, so who wants to see Nobody’s Fool EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →

The “Julie Says So” TOP 5 MOVIES to See Now (10/26/18)

It’s the weekend before Halloween and the perfect time for a SCARY MOVIE! Or maybe you’d prefer something that isn’t scary, if you’re a big chicken (yes, I’m making clucking sounds at YOU). Either way, don’t buy any tickets before looking over the Julie Says So TOP 5 MOVIES to see now. We can’t have you wasting money on some garbage-movie.

5. I didn’t think Jonah Hill did anything between films that didn’t involve a bong, but I was wrong. He actually wrote and directed a movie called Mid90’s which is far better than it deserves to be, since you’re just watching a kid get his butt kicked repeatedly. Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See Disney’s “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” EARLY & FOR FREE

People occasionally complain about my Free Movie Passes because the screenings are in a town that’s too far away from them. That hopefully won’t be the case for Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, because THIS TIME I have passes to two different screenings! If you’d like to see The Nutcracker and the Four Realms Continue reading →

Melissa McCarthy

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Can You Ever Forgive Me” EARLY & FOR FREE

Those of us who were sad when Melissa McCarthy didn’t get an Oscar nomination for Bridesmaids (yeah, I know it was a stretch) might have our wishes granted this year, thanks to Can You Ever Forgive Me. McCarthy stars as real-life biographer Lee Israel, who gained fame in the 1970’s by writing books about celebrities. She turned to deception when funds ran low and wound up in the middle of her own scandal. Can You Ever Forgive Me is already on this year’s Oscars short-list, with Melissa McCarthy a top pick for Best Actress! Pretty exciting, right? Now you really want to see Can You Ever Forgive Me EARLY and FOR FREE, don’t you? Continue reading →

Bad Times

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Bad Times at the El Royale” EARLY & FOR FREE

I’ve watched the trailer for Bad Times at the El Royale a handful of times now and I still can’t figure out what’s going on. It’s hard to worry about a cast that’s THIS GOOD, though. You’ve got Jeff Bridges, Jon Hamm, Nick Offerman and Chris Hemsworth, who’s apparently forgotten how to button a shirt (not complaining, just noting). Dakota Johnson’s in the mix too and, as I’ve stated a few times already, she’s vastly underrated as an actress. Bad Times at the El Royale is also from Writer/Director Drew Goddard, who’s responsible for mind-benders like Cabin in the Woods, Cloverfield and several episodes of Lost. I think this is the type of movie that you learn as little as possible about before seeing it. Even better, how would you like to see it EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →
