Stanfield & Thompson

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Sorry to Bother You” EARLY & FOR FREE

If you aren’t excited about the film Sorry to Bother You, you must not have read any of it’s crazy-enthusiastic reviews. One of my favorites comes from Alex Arabian of filminquiry.com, who says this:
Sorry To Bother You is an intelligent, batshit crazy satire that offers plenty of the theater of the absurd, a standout performance from Lakeith Stanfield, the most original script of the past two years, and plenty of laughs and food for thought.”
Sounds pretty great, right? You can read the rest of that review HERE (or browse through the other glowing Rotten Tomatoes reviews HERE), OR you could just grab FREE PASSES to see Sorry to Bother You from me! Continue reading →

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see all the movies this week, so click HERE to see what critics thought of Ocean’s 8, HERE to see what they thought of Hotel Artemis, and HERE to read about Won’t You Be My Neighbor. My buddy Kristin Lonergan got FREE PASSES to see the Fred Rogers documentary from my website, and wrote this review:
“Mister Rogers’ message never changed. No matter the decade, no matter the daily news headline, Mister Rogers was true to the belief that each one of us is special. We each hold the power of love and to be loved, no matter what. You can see it on the faces of those who knew him best, he walked the walk. You can’t help feel hopeful and completely capable after you see this documentary. He was universally kind and genuine.”
Dang it, I need to see that movie! Please watch the MOVIE MINUTE below and subscribe to my YouTube channel. My kids still pick on me for having so few subscribers!

Fred Rogers

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” EARLY & FOR FREE

Why do you think everyone is flipping out over Won’t You Be My Neighbor? This documentary about Fred Rogers and his Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood has been blowing audiences out of the water at film festivals everywhere. Even it’s trailer moves most people to tears (me included) with long forgotten images of Mr. McFeely, Lady Aberlin and of course, those famous blue sneakers. What is it about this TV show and especially this man that seems so important and necessary right now? Could it be Fred Rogers’ commitment to children, or to honesty, or his continued assertion that everyone is special and deserving of love? I don’t know, but I’m tearing up just thinking about it and simply can’t wait too see this movie! So, do you want to see Won’t You Be My Neighbor EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →

Woodley & Claflin

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Adrift” EARLY & FOR FREE

Imagine meeting the love of your life, who then asks you to sail across the ocean with him? Sounds pretty romantic doesn’t it? Well, that’s exactly what happened to Tami Oldham and it was just as beautiful as it sounds, until they sailed right into a massive hurricane. Oldham wrote a book about their journey, called Red Sky in Mourning: A True Story of Love, Loss and Survival at Sea, which has been turned into the movie Adrift (starring Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin). It looks pretty incredible and, after her brilliant performance in Big Little Lies, I’d watch Shailene Woodley in anything. If you feel the same way, Continue reading →

Melissa McCarthy

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Life of the Party” EARLY & FOR FREE

God, I love Melissa McCarthy.
Even when she makes lousy movies, I still love her. Not that I think Life of the Party will be lousy. In fact, I’ve watched the trailer about 15 times and it still makes me laugh. Melissa co-wrote Life of the Party with her husband, Ben Falcone, who also directs it. They also worked together on Tammy and The Boss, which aren’t my favorite Melissa McCarthy movies (that’d be Spy) but they’re still funny. Truth be told, I’d watch Melissa McCarthy in just about anything. Even The Nines, that super weird movie from 2007 where she played Ryan Reynolds’ wife. True story, and I love Melissa McCarthy so much that I even watched that. If you love her too and would like to see Life of the Party EARLY and FOR FREE, Continue reading →

I didn’t get to see that one but it sounds fantastic and it’s also now in theaters. Take a minute to read my take on Amy Schumer’s new movie I Feel Pretty, too. No, it isn’t a review and it actually ticked some people off. Seriously, I’ve taken a beating online for what I wrote, so you can read that HERE! Enjoy!

Charlize Theron

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See Charlize Theron in “Tully” EARLY & FOR FREE

My kids are a little older and I occasionally see things that make me grateful for that.
Just today, I was enjoying a quiet walk by the lake when I came across a Mom who was screaming at four kids, all around three-years-old. She was furious and exhausted but, not matter what she said, those little monsters kept riding their trikes through the mud. A block past her was another Mom, who was trying to leave the park while her tiny daughter threw an impressive fit, flat on her back. I saw a woman at the mall an hour later, who’s pregnant belly was so big, it looked like she could burst and go flying around the Food Court, like a popped balloon.
The trailer for Tully also makes me so SO grateful that my kids are older.
Charlize Theron plays a Mom who’s just trying to get through those difficult early-years because…well, they can be kind of awful. Her brother surprises her with a night-nurse named Tully, who helps ease her around the tough spots. Yes, it’s a simple plot that doesn’t sound that intriguing, but watch the trailer below. If you can get through it without tearing up, then maybe your new-Mommy years were much easier than mine. If, on the other hand, it resonates with you the way it did with me, Continue reading →

The Miracle Season

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “The Miracle Season” EARLY & FOR FREE

Did you know that Volleyball is a monstrous craze for girls? I didn’t either until my daughters reached around 9-years-old and started asking about it. Apparently all the girls their age were playing so, of course, they had to play too. There are Girls’ Volleyball teams and leagues EVERYWHERE and some families spend all their free time sitting on bleachers, watching their girls play. Seriously. I have friends who spend entire weekends, watching games while sipping vodka cocktails out of Yeti coffee mugs. If you are one of them, The Miracle Season might not be for you, but I bet your daughters would love it.
This one tells the true story of a high school volleyball team that has to rebuild after the death of it’s star player. The Miracle Season stars Erin Moriarty (Kings of Summer, Captain Fantastic) and Helen Hunt (you know who Helen Hunt is) and looks like it’s going to be a real tear-jerker. It’s also a film with a positive message that targets young girls, and we simply don’t see enough of those.
