Man, it has been a banner week for Melissa McCarthy. First, she was all over the news for schooling a film critic who said horrible things about her. THEN she showed up to get her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame looking like this:
We were super excited about the podcast this week, for various reasons. First of all, we were all jazzed about seeing the remake of Poltergeist, but also because we had a real-live MOVIE STAR as our Guest Film Critic. Brad Hawkins from the movie Boyhood joined us and was adorable, like usual. If you’ve seen Boyhood, Brad played this guy.
I interviewed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson years ago when he came through Dallas to promote The Mummy Returns. He is GIGANTIC and surprisingly cute and cuddly. He hugged me. Like one of those pick-you-up-and-SQUEEZE-you hugs. THEN he kissed me on the cheek. He did the same thing to just about every other woman in the office and was equally as loveable with all the dudes. That is why I will always have a bit of a thing for The Rock and am excited about seeing San Andreas next week. I’ve seen the trailers and it’s just the kind of squirm-in-your-seat blockbuster that will get us all pumped about summer. Continue reading →
Omigodomigodomigod…I am so freaking excited about this movie! Poltergeist is one of my all-time FAVORITE scary movies and probably in my “Top 10 of All Time.” I even wrote a blog about how it ruined my life, which you can read by clicking HERE if you happen to be bored or sitting on a toilet.
I love Poltergeist so much that I was pissed when I found out they were remaking it. Then I saw the trailer. Holy sh*t, I won’t be able to sleep for WEEKS after this.
Wanna go? I have free passes to see Poltergeist in Dallas AND in Austin. If you THINK you can handle it, just click on the links below. I’ll see you there but WARNING: I tend to scream and thrash about through the scary parts.
Julie Fisk, Sybil Summers & Richie Whitt went to see “Hot Pursuit” and STRUGGLED to talk about anything other than Sofia Vergara’s boobs afterwards. Special thanks to Linda Aycock (Sybil’s Mom) for joining us. She was ADORABLE!
I must have been partially drunk when I recorded this one. First I said it’s May 5th when it’s obviously May 6th. THEN I said, “Speaking of movies,” when NO ONE was speaking of movies. This podcast includes references to boating with snakes, fighting with fishermen, hormonal meltdowns and yes…sex with a walrus. I guess I really WAS partially drunk when I recorded this! https://soundcloud.com/julie-hoyt-fisk/podcast-julie-says-so-w-kayaks-muffins-walrus-sex
Don’t forget that the “Julie Says So” Podcast is brought to you by Veecaravan. Check out their Pop-Up Shop in Deep Ellum this weekend!
If you’re anything like me, you MIGHT have yawned a little bit at the idea of a new Mad Max movie. You might have even launched into a “Hollywood has run out of ideas,” rant.
Then you heard that Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron would star in it and your interest piqued. Not long after, you started seeing the posters and trailers and now you’re full-blown excited about it! Jeez Louise, LOOK at Charlize in this thing! She’s TERRIFYING! Continue reading →
I went to see Tony Zazza because he SAID he wanted to talk about the Avengers: Age of Ultron. HE LIED! Evidently, Tony had a “bone to pick” with me and boy, did he ever! I thought he might jump across the desk & stab me with a Sharpie at one point. Click HERE and go to Podcast #24 to hear what happened but WATCH OUT for that Tony Zazza. You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry!
Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara have a new movie coming out called Hot Pursuit. It’s about a straight-laced cop who has to protect a sexy widow from the mafia, so it’s pretty easy to guess which actress plays which character. Witherspoon and Vergara supposedly became besties while filming this movie so I think they need one of those combination names, like Brangelina. I’m going with Rofia Witherboobs.
I have passes to a screening of Hot Pursuit next week, so click the link below if you’d like to go. It’s Wednesday night (5/6) at the AMC Northpark, which is one of my favorite theaters because they have a bar. I’ll probably be at this one too so smile & wave if you see me, but don’t ask about the flask in my purse. Sorry but those drinks get PRICEY!
