MOVIE REVIEW- “Alien: Covenant” Sorry, But I Don’t Get It

Seriously, what am I missing with this franchise?
I’ll admit that I loved the first Alien movie, like pretty much everyone else in the world. I never understood the need to tell that story over and over again though, or the thrill of repeatedly watching astronauts run around a doomed spacecraft (not even when Predator got involved). I DID get excited when I found out Ridley Scott was making the movies again, and that he had a whole new backstory for the monster. Promethus might not have been a great movie (it deserves props for Michael Fassbender’s freaky David and the do-it-yourself C-section), but it did set up an exciting, updated chapter to the Alien story. We were promised trips to new worlds and the introduction of an advanced race that might explain our very existence. Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Why Him?” EARLY & FOR FREE!

Bryan Cranston has turned into a hero of mine. He already was, of course, after I plowed through all seasons of Breaking Bad AND re-watched Malcolm in the Middle with my kids. Cranston went to near-legendary status in my mind though, after leaving an autographed book at DFW Airport. It was later found by “Kenna,” who dutifully lost her mind over it on Twitter and incited rage-inducing jealousy in us all.

Bryan Cranston
Yes “Kenna,” it’s real.

Has there ever been a movie that’s more messed up than Sausage Party? I guess it’s appropriate, after a year of lovely animated flicks like Zootopia and Finding Dory, that we’d get this. I don’t know about you, but I NEEDED something completely wrong right now. Something I didn’t have to take my kids to, which is why I’m THRILLED about Sausage Party. Even better, I have passes to see it EARLY and FOR FREE! Click HERE to snag those, then watch the trailer below. Oh, and if you think it’s bad, go watch the RED-BAND TRAILER for Sausage Party. THAT is some serious corruption!

BLOG: Stephen King’s “11/22/63” Filmed in Dallas & We Were All There

Stephen King’s 2012 novel 11/22/63 tells the story of a time-traveler who goes back in time to stop the Kennedy assassination. If you haven’t read it already, do so because it’s a great story that asks interesting questions like How would stopping Oswald change the world? or What if it somehow made things worse? It’s also especially cool for those of us who LIVE in North Texas because King describes areas all over town. Well, his main character, Jake Epping, actually HATES Dallas but it’s still cool to read about his trip through the city and attempt to stop Lee Harvey Oswald.

J.J. Abrams is producing a mini-series based on this book for Hulu and James Franco is playing Jake Epping. They were in town this past week to film the motorcade scene and all of North Texas decided to show up. Portions of downtown Dallas were shut down for the production, which caused traffic jams and public outcry for days. I didn’t let this stop me from heading downtown, of course, because if James Franco is somewhere nearby, might as well go try to look at him. Continue reading →
