Charlize Theron

“Atomic Blonde”- A Stream of Consciousness Movie Review

Here is a collection of my thoughts while watching Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde:

Holy CRAP, Charlize Theron looks amazing! How old is she now? Almost 42? Damn woman!
OK, so she plays Lorraine, who is an undercover MI6 agent during the Cold War. You know this because Regan is screaming for the wall to come down. Lorraine’s been in a bad fight but still looks gorgeous with her scrapes and bruises. She’s even sexy when she’s glowering. How does she do that? I look like a sea hag when I glower. Maybe I should practice in a mirror.

I’m already kind of confused but it doesn’t matter because they’re playing some classic David Bowie now, which I adore. I think this song was on the Cat People soundtrack, too.

Anyhow, Lorraine is in trouble for some reason and is being debriefed by her boss and John Goodman. They want her to find a guy named Spyglass with the help of James McAvoy, who is all buff and beefy now. He’s bald again, too. Why does James McAvoy only play bald dudes now? Wait, IS JAMES MCAVOY BALD? Nevermind, they’re playing Depeche Mode. Continue reading →

Is it just me, or did Kong: Skull Island come out of nowhere?
How did we miss this?
Maybe we were all too busy talking about Beauty and the Beast or the insanity at the Oscars to notice, but another honest-to-goodness King Kong movie is coming out.
It’s even got a great cast, with Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly. Kong: Skull Island looks surprisingly GOOD, too. So seriously…
how did we miss this?
Well, it doesn’t really matter because I have passes to see it EARLY and FOR FREE! Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “10 Cloverfield Lane” On Me!

Holy Crap!

I just watched the trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane again and got chills up and down my arms! What the hell is happening here? Speculation has run the gamut and the fact that J.J. Abrams is a producer has added to the obvious Cloverfield monster-movie connections. I can tell you that my research (meaning the 5 minutes I just spent on Google) determined that this project was around long before it was attached to Abrams and that there was originally no mention of monsters. That honestly tells us nothing so instead of speculating any further, just grab free passes to see 10 Cloverfield Lane by clicking HERE, then watch that freaky trailer again. Seriously, what the hell is happening here?!!!

MOVIE REVIEW: Bryan Cranston Channels “Trumbo”

It’s hard for me to tell if I love a movie that Bryan Cranston is in or if I just love Bryan Cranston. I’ve adored that man for years, even as the tighty-whitey Dad on Malcolm in the Middle. That’s part of the reason I’m struggling to review the movie Trumbo. Cranston is in every scene, hunching his shoulders, smoking cigarettes and sputtering lines that only he could get away with. He doesn’t steal the show because he IS the show and at times, it’s distracting.

Bryan Cranston plays Dalton Trumbo, a Hollywood screenwriter who was blacklisted in the 1940’s for being a Communist. He and other writers, known as The Hollywood 10, were banished (Trumbo even did jail time) and forced to write under pseudonyms to make money. That is when Trumbo penned 2 Oscar winning films, and under different names. Continue reading →
