MOVIE REVIEW: What “Jackie” Says About Politics Today

Jackie stars Natalie Portman as Jacqueline Bovier Kennedy, in the days following John F. Kennedy’s assassination. It depicts a woman who is starkly alone, and thrown into a spotlight during the worst days of her life. This movie is beautifully shot and well acted, but it doesn’t tell us anything new about that moment in time. Free Movie Passes: See “Jackie” EARLY & FOR FREE

If you stop and think about Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy as a real human being for a moment, it’s a bit overwhelming. She’s such an iconic part of our history, it’s easy to imagine her as some kind of animatronic figure in Disney’s Hall of Presidents. She was a real person though, and when you consider everything she went through, from the assassination on, it takes your breath away. Jackie tells the story of the days surrounding that event and what likely happened behind the scenes.
