MOMMY-MOVIE-REVIEW: What Can You Expect From “Wonder Woman”

You’ve probably heard by now that Wonder Woman is a good movie. Better than good. In fact, I gave it an A, which is a grade I don’t readily hand out. Director Patty Jenkins finally delivered a proper superhero flick to DC, but the next big question PARENTS will ask is, “Can my KIDS see Wonder Woman?”

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Wonder Woman” EARLY & FOR FREE

I always say that lowered expectations are a movie’s best friend, but Wonder Woman is making that next to impossible for me. How am I supposed to keep my cool about the first female superhero movie since 2005 (that was Elektra), which just happens to be directed by a woman (Patty Jenkins, who also directed Monster)? I’m also a huge fan of Gal Gadot, who is taking on the role of Diana in this origin story. Gadot is so much more than a pretty face, having served as a combat trainer in the Israel Defense Forces. She performs most of her own stunts, is a motorcycle enthusiast and is the mother of two little girls. Both of Gal Gadot’s grandparents are Holocaust survivors as well, so the mantle of Superhero seems all the more fitting.
My daughters are also pumped about Wonder Woman, having never seen a superhero movie about a GIRL in their lives. I’d say it’s about time. So, who wants passes to see Wonder Woman EARLY and FOR FREE? Continue reading →

PODCAST: “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” Review (w/ a healthy dose of profanity)

Rebekah Black and I saw Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last night, then recorded our thoughts about it. I don’t want to give anything away, but we got pretty worked up and eventually started peppering the review with our favorite swear words. That’s why you probably shouldn’t listen to this around your kids and if you listen at work, turn it down REALLY low. Enjoy!
