Movie Review Round-Up: DEEPWATER HORIZON, MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN, QUEEN OF KATWE & MASTERMINDS

Feel like heading to the movies this weekend but don’t want to spend 2 hours watching something you hate? I can help with that. Here’s what’s opening this weekend and whether or not it’s worth your time.

Deepwater Horizon – This movie is completely split down the middle for me. The first half introduces us to the crew of the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon, and informs us that something is horribly wrong. You won’t understand what that something horrible is (unless you have a background in drilling or maybe an Engineering Degree) and repeated attempts to explain it don’t help. Continue reading →

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Deepwater Horizon” ON ME!

On April 20th, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on an off-shore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico. The Deepwater Horizon exploded and created the largest oil-spill in history AND took 11 lives in the process. Director Peter Berg tells the Deepwater Horizon story with the help of Mike Williams (played by Mark Wahlberg), who actually survived the explosion.

So, wanna see it EARLY and FOR FREE? If so, click HERE to grab your free passes, then watch the trailer below. Wait a minute. What accent is John Malkovich doing? Is that supposed to be Cajun?

FREE MOVIE PASSES: See “Mother’s Day” On Me!

I worked with a man many moons ago who didn’t buy Mother’s Day gifts for his wife. He said he didn’t have to because she wasn’t his mother. He also didn’t think the fact that she’d given birth to his two daughters counted.

I still get pissed off when I think about that guy.

Hopefully you’re not married to that dude or someone like him and if you are, I have a Mother’s Day gift for YOU. Better yet, you don’t even have to be a MOM to take advantage of it.

I have free passes to see the new movie Mother’s Day, starring Julia Roberts, Jennifer Anniston and Kate Hudson. Now, this isn’t the Mother’s Day that came out in 2010, which is a home-invasion slasher-flick starring Rebecca De Mornay. No, this Mother’s Day isn’t stabby like that one, but it does poke fun at the difficult relationships we have with our MOMS. Get your free passes by clicking HERE, then take a minute to watch the trailer below. You know, you could bring YOUR Mom to the screening and make that her Mother’s Day present…if you’re cheap like me. I promise I won’t tell her!

Dishing “The 2016 Golden Globes” on GOOD MORNING TEXAS

I joined my friends at Good Morning Texas today, to talk about The 2016 Golden Globes and it was SO MUCH FUN! Seriously, I wish I could get up every morning and talk trash about celebrities with Jeanette Chivvis, Victoria Snee and Jane McGarry. The only thing I would change is the hair, make-up and clothes part because that’s REALLY STRESSFUL. Maybe we could just sit around in bathrobes, with our hair pulled back and clay-masks on our faces. That’s way more my speed!

We started by discussing The Revenant, and all the awards it scored at the Globes. We mentioned Arthur Redcloud from Colleyville, who plays a major role in the movie, and an article about him that ran in Guidelive recently. That was written by my friend Tommy Cummings, and you can read it by clicking HERE. Then watch us drool over Michael Fassbender and fight about Jennifer Lawrence’s cut-out dress by clicking HERE. Can’t wait until the Oscars!
