Remember how pleasantly surprised we all were by Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle when it opened in 2017? It became the surprise hit of that holiday season and is now one of those films that, if it happens to be on TV, I have to watch the whole dang thing. The follow-up, Jumanji: The Next Level, is opening December 13th and things are a little different this time. Watch the trailer below to find out how they worked in new cast members, Continue reading →
The Upside is actually a remake of an excellent French film from 2011 called The Intouchables. It was also about a wealthy man who becomes a quadriplegic after an accident and hires a caregiver with a questionable past. I haven’t seen the remake with Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart yet, but The Intouchables was one of my favorite films that year (it was even nominated for a Golden Globe). So, who wants to see The Upside EARLY and FOR FREE? Good because I have passes for screenings all over Texas! Continue reading →
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is about four high-school students who get pulled into a video game, where they become their avatars. It stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black as game characters who must figure out clues and save the island, or possibly die in the process. Along the way, they meet Nick Jonas’ Seaplane McDonough, who has been trapped inside the game for twenty years.
Look, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is goofy and about as substantial as a handful of popcorn. It’s also surprisingly engaging and a load of fun. Continue reading →
My youngest daughter actually screamed when we left for school this morning. She was lugging her backpack to the car when a neighborhood kid pedaled past us on his bike. This guy must already be out of school because he was wearing swim trunks and flip flops, and whistled a happy tune as he whizzed past us. It was simply too much for Lucy, who has a week left of school, so she understandably screamed.
It’s this utter exhaustion and school-malaise that will speak to kids who see Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. Continue reading →
Is it strange that I read the Captain Underpants books long before I had kids?
My friend (and former 102.1 the Edge co-worker) Jessie Jessup introduced me to these stories about kids who turn their principal into a superhero years ago. I still have a few dog-eared copies left, which is why I was thrilled (and a little apprehensive) when I heard that Dreamworks was making a movie out of them.
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie stars Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch as George and Harold. Ed Helms voices their cantankerous principal, Mr. Krupp who eventually becomes Captain Underpants. Yes, I know all of this sounds ridiculous but that’s exactly WHY the books were so awesome and why the movie just might be.

Have you noticed that Kids’ Movies are starting to look like each other? Maybe it’s because they’re all made by the same studios, writers, and animators, but the characters and storylines are becoming interchangeable. The Secret Life of Pets comes from Illumination Entertainment, the same people who did The Lorax and Despicable Me. It looks so familiar, you’ll be waiting for a Minion to pop up. That doesn’t mean it isn’t also extremely fun to watch. Continue reading →
I’ve had multiple friends reach out to me lately, asking what movies they should see. Some are looking to entertain kids who are out of school and some are finally getting out for a date-night, but none of them want to waste their time and cash.
So what should you be seeing right now, in the heat of Summer Movie Season?
Here is my Top 8 List but understand, this doesn’t mean these movies are GREAT. They’re just your best-bets right now, so adjust your expectations accordingly. Continue reading →
The ads for Central Intelligence say that sometimes you need a little Hart and a BIG Johnson. Makes you wonder if they didn’t just make the whole movie around that joke, right?
Well, the pairing of Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson certainly has fans excited, and so does the trailer featuring a pudgy, teenage version of “The Rock.” That might be worth the ticket price alone but lucky for us, we don’t have to pay for tickets! Just click HERE to snag your Central Intelligence passes, then watch the trailer again. And remember to get to the theater early! These will get you in for free but you’ll still need to get there in time to save your seat.
I was on Good Morning Texas today to talk about all the big movies that are coming out this month AND review The Conjuring 2. I also got to meet their brand new host Alanna Sarabia, who is so gorgeous that I just wanted to stare at her the whole time. I had so much fun today on Good Morning Texas! It felt like a high school reunion because I got to see TWO former co-workers; Victoria Snee and Steve Kemble. Victoria and I went to each other’s weddings and the last time Steve and I were together, this happened:
Yes, I was dressed as him.
Today we put on our fanciest gear and hashed out the 2016 Oscars. Well, WE got dressed up. Steve Kemble wears that jacket to walk his dog. Click HERE to see our Favorite Moments from the 2016 Oscars and to watch everyone tear into Heidi Klum’s gown. Enjoy!
Special thanks to Belk at Galleria Dallas for providing my dress. I love that thing so much I might not take it back!
