Before I say anything about a FREE Red Sparrow SCREENING, I’d like to write an open letter to it’s star, Jennifer Lawrence.
How’re you holding up? It’s been a weird time for you, hasn’t it? I mean, your career has turned some major somersaults since you were nominated for your first Oscar in 2011. What were you, like 20-years-old when you starred in Winter’s Bone? And you were soooo gooooood. Then you WON an Oscar only 2 years later for Silver Linings Playbook, and scored huge hits with the Hunger Games AND X-Men series. You, young Jennifer Lawrence, were adored by pretty much everyone in the world, including me, when things got wobbly. First there was Serena, then Joy, and then Passengers, which couldn’t even be saved by dirty rumors about you and Chris Pratt. You took a beating for those, then you took a LITERAL beating in the movie mother! last year. People didn’t even notice how great you were in that because they were so busy debating what the movie MEANT. And here you are in Red Sparrow, which has fans like me crossing our fingers and HOPING that it’s good. Not because we prefer GOOD movies (which we DO), but because, dammit Jennifer Lawrence, YOU ARE DUE.
So know that I’m rooting for you JLaw, and if you hear me making fun of your Russian accent in this one, it’s only because I’m jealous of all that beauty, fame and talent of yours. And GOOD LUCK!
So, who wants passes to see Red SparrowEARLY and FOR FREE? Click HERE for those, then watch the trailer below. See what I mean about that accent? (Sorry Jenn!)

Are you planning to see Jennifer Lawrence’s new movie mother! this weekend? If so, I highly recommend that you watch my mother! (yes, the lower-case “m” is intentional) review on Good Morning Texas first. There are several things you need to know about Darren Aronofsky’s latest before you start shelling out money for tickets. I also covered First They Killed My Father, which is based on a true story and directed by Angelina Jolie. Continue reading →
I should go ahead and tell you that I absolutely ADORED this latest version of IT. I have a long-running history with the story (read IT multiple times in college and watched the whole mini-series, though I didn’t love it) and was far more excited about this remake than a grown woman should be. I had prepared myself for disappointment, after being let down by so many Stephen King adaptations, but 2017’s IT is everything I could’ve hoped for.
Director Andy Muschietti breathes fresh life into the story of bullied youngsters who take on a dark force, making IT a coming-of-age film as well as a horror movie. The teen-aged cast flesh out their roles even more effectively than the Stephen King book, but the absolute star of the show is, once again, Pennywise the Clown.
I don’t think anyone imagined a way to top Tim Curry’s iconic performance in the 1990 IT miniseries. Bill Skarsgård came to the role as a fan of the book though, and knew exactly what kind of Pennywise he wanted to deliver. He inhabited the role so completely that Muscietti often let Skarsgård improvise scenes. He even scared his child co-stars on set and trained with a contortionist to master Pennywise’s bizarre movements. It results in a jarring, sometimes comical but always terrifying performance. The images from IT that will stay with you are ALL of Pennywise, but that just might too much for some kids. Continue reading →
I absolutely LOVE IT when I look at the calendar and see nothing but great movies on the horizon. That’s exactly what I was talking about on Good Morning Texas today. I joined Jane McGarry (who apparently cranks up rap music when she isn’t on TV) and Alanna Sarabia (who’s so young, she wasn’t sure who John McEnroe was…but we love her anyway!) to talk about Patti Cake$, Mother!, Battle of the Sexes, Home Again, 9/11, American Made and the movie I simply can’t stop talking about, It. I even had some juicy gossip to share about Jennifer Lawrence’s latest fling and our newest Pennywise the Clown, who scared some child actors on the set so badly, he left them crying. Click HERE to watch the segment, then visit the Free Movie Passes page to see what I’m giving away next. In fact, I should have tickets to see Itvery soon so check that page DAILY. Continue reading →
Rebekah Black and I saw The Hitman’s Bodyguard last night, then had some drinks and fought about Samuel L. Jackson’s real age.
