I just talked to my buddies Trudi & Jim at WCSX Detroit about all the movies that are coming out this week. Well, we got a little sidetracked talking about Michael Fassbender’s unit, but we mostly discussed The Choice, Hail, Caesar! and Pride Prejudice and Zombies. You can listen to that by clicking HERE, then take a minute to cruise the website for Free Movie Passes. I can hook you up with Zoolander 2 and How To Be Single freebies, so don’t leave without grabbing those!
I got to sit down and chat with Benjamin Walker and Teresa Palmer today. You might know him better as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter or as Chris Hemsworth’s nemesis in The Heart of The Sea. You probably know her as the lovely Julie in Warm Bodies, but you will soon know them both as the stars of Nicholas Sparks’ new movie The Choice. I’d give you a description but it’s a Nichols Sparks flick coming out before Valentine’s Day. I’m sure you can figure it out.
Now, I’ve been interviewing celebrities for a million years and I have to say that they’re not always pleasant. Sometimes they don’t want to be there so they take it out on you. Other times they’re hungover, or just tired of being asked the same questions over and over again. Sometimes they’re simply assholes. I have to say that Ben Walker and Teresa Palmer are two of the sweetest celebrities…hell, PEOPLE I’ve ever met. They were both warm and funny and if I hadn’t been kicked out of the room by their “people,” I’d probably still be there chatting them up right now.
That’s why I feel kind of bad about posting this interview. See, somehow we started talking about farts and Ben told us about the Fart Contests he has with his wife. He just happens to be married to actress Kaya Scodelario from the Maze Runner movies.
Thanks again to Ben & Teresa for being so sweet and accommodating! Hope he doesn’t get into TOO much trouble!
The movie version of Nicholas Sparks’ best seller “The Longest Ride,” is NOW in theaters. It stars Britt Robertson and Scott Eastwood as young lovers who are struggling to make their relationship work. Along the way, they meet an elderly man (played by Alan Alda), who tells them all about the love of his life. That love story stars Jack Huston and Oona Chaplin, which makes me wonder WHY IS EVERYONE FREAKING OUT ABOUT SCOTT EASTWOOD WHEN JACK HUSTON IS EVEN BETTER? Seriously, it’s Richard from Boardwalk Empire before he got his face blown off! That guy is beautiful! So take a listen to my chat with Bernie Mack on Westwood One and while you’re at it, let’s all gaze longingly at the gorgeous Jack Huston. Because Scott Eastwood seems like a meathead anyway.

I changed the name of the Podcast this week. I did this for several reasons. First of all, Richie Whitt & Sybil Summers gave me nonstop hell about it, claiming that it didn’t make sense. I insisted they were wrong but several people also came forward to say the name was confusing. Don’t you hate it when you’re WRONG? So Wine ‘N Film Critics is now Boozy Movies. Happy?
This week was different because we went to a special screening of The Longest Ride WITH the author Nicholas Sparks and the stars, Britt Robertson and Scott Eastwood. Also, I was the only one drinking. Fortunately, I’m not above drinking alone.
Remember when you finished reading “The Notebook” and you were crying so hard you thought you might vomit? Then you saw the movie and the ending was even sadder than it was in the book?
You probably thought to yourself, “If I EVER meet Nicholas Sparks, I’m gonna tell him how pissed I am about that ending!”
Well, now’s your chance!
Nicholas Sparks is coming to town next week for a screening of “The Longest Ride!” Continue reading →
