I’m a parent so I know that we’re reaching the low, dark days of “when the hell does school start again???” Mine are older and I’m out of the kids-hanging-on-you-in-the-pool days, but they still manage to empty the fridge AND bank account on a daily basis. So I feel your pain. That’s why I’m happy to offer FREE PASSES to see The Angry Birds Movie 2! It won’t cost you a thing and you’ll spend 2 blessed hours in a cool theater, where you can repeatedly remind yourself that summer’s almost over. Continue reading →
I could write a 3-part essay about Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, explaining why you REALLY want to see this movie. I could tell you about the cast, which includes Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, and Peter Dinklage OR how it’s written and directed by Martin McDonagh, who made those other two movies you loved (Seven Psychopaths and In Bruges). I could talk all day about it’s incredible performances and Oscar chances, but the thing that will REALLY make you want to see Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri is it’s trailer. I posted that below so watch it, then grab passes to see it EARLY and FOR FREE Continue reading →
I joined Jane McGarry on Good Morning Texas today to talk about all the big new movies that are coming out this month. Yes, Captain America: Civil War will probably own the box-office for a while but there are several other flicks you should add to your Must See List. Click HERE to watch the Good Morning Texas segment, and remember to check out my Free Movie Passes page. You never know what I might be giving away!
I also need to send out a huge THANK YOU to Tamara Gaudin from tgstylist.com for dressing me today. Tamara pulled together some fantastic stuff from the Nordstrom at NorthPark Center and she can do the same for you! Find Tamara by clicking HERE and tell her I sent you!
I really wanted to like The Boss. I promise I tried.
There were even a few things I LOVED about it, like the way it called out a certain cookie-selling group for being nothing but a corporation. The “Daffodils” in The Boss were supposedly empowering girls, but they were really just using them for child labor. The “Darnell Darlings” actually helped the girls instead, by selling brownies to start their own college funds.
I also loved how the “Darnell Darlings” weren’t portrayed as little princesses, but instead as foul-mouthed thugs. I have two little girls of my own, so I loved watching the “Darlings” throw down in an Anchorman-style street fight. (This probably says horrible things about my parenting skills.)
I am also a huge Melissa McCarthy fan and will cut her slack when most critics won’t, but this time, I just can’t. Continue reading →
I belong to a secret Facebook group. I’ve talked about these people before (see My Secret Shame Part 1 and Part 2) and love them all dearly, even though I’ve only met one of them in person. They allowed me into their faction because I possess a similarly filthy mind and will openly discuss matters that should really only be shared with a therapist, if even then. These secret online conversations get especially raucous on Friday nights, when we are all exhausted from a full week of working/parenting/faking it and break into the alcohol. Feeds fill up with pictures of cocktails and dicussions about people we’d like to murder, have sex with or both. One woman snaps secret photos of her father-in-law’s feet and posts them, so we can all discuss exactly what the hell is going on there.

You know what’s great? Seeing a movie you THINK is going to be mediocre and then you end up having a blast. You know what’s even better? When you go with your KIDS and they experience the EXACT SAME THING. My girls weren’t excited about seeing Pixels. Why? I don’t really know. They don’t suffer from the same Adam-Sandler-Migraine their mother does so I don’t have a good answer. They ARE self-proclaimed gamers however and consider the games I played as a kid (Pac-Man and Tetrus specifically) as “OLD SCHOOL.” They also like the way I cringe whenever they call it that. But even they (the jaded-little-monsters that they are) walked out of Pixels with a smile on their face and a skip in their step. It’s hard NOT to when you see a movie that’s this much FUN! If you AREN’T excited about seeing Adam Sandler’s new movie Pixels, maybe you should take a look at THIS. It’s some behind the scenes footage Sandler himself caught on a GoPro.
NOW you want to see it, right? Well, that’s awesome because I just happen to have free passes to a screening this Tuesday (7/21). Just click HERE for those and I’ll see you there! Oh yeah, I have kids who are full-blown gamers so they’re DEMANDING to see it.
