If you’re anything like me, you probably take your kids to see every age-appropriate movie as soon as it opens. It started as a way to keep the offspring occupied when they were tiny handfuls, but it’s blossomed into a full-fledged love of film that I get to share with my daughters. That’s why I love it when people ask me AND MY GIRLS about new releases. I got their help when putting together this list of our Top 5 Movies Worth Seeing Twice, because sometimes you’d rather spend your money on a sure thing. Continue reading →
My youngest daughter actually screamed when we left for school this morning. She was lugging her backpack to the car when a neighborhood kid pedaled past us on his bike. This guy must already be out of school because he was wearing swim trunks and flip flops, and whistled a happy tune as he whizzed past us. It was simply too much for Lucy, who has a week left of school, so she understandably screamed.
It’s this utter exhaustion and school-malaise that will speak to kids who see Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. Continue reading →
I was on Good Morning Texas today, talking about some big upcoming movies as well as reviewing a few others. If you’d like to find out what’s opening in July OR hear my thoughts on The Legend of Tarzan and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, just click HERE.
I also previewed a new scary movie called Lights Out, but unfortunately all the free passes I had to see it are gone. Apologies also to director David Sandberg for almost forgetting his name! I decided to make up for it by posting the original short film Lights Out is based on, but prepare yourself. It’s scary!
I’ve had multiple friends reach out to me lately, asking what movies they should see. Some are looking to entertain kids who are out of school and some are finally getting out for a date-night, but none of them want to waste their time and cash.
So what should you be seeing right now, in the heat of Summer Movie Season?
Here is my Top 8 List but understand, this doesn’t mean these movies are GREAT. They’re just your best-bets right now, so adjust your expectations accordingly. Continue reading →
I was on Good Morning Texas today to talk about all the big movies that are coming out this month AND review The Conjuring 2. I also got to meet their brand new host Alanna Sarabia, who is so gorgeous that I just wanted to stare at her the whole time. I talked to Gene & Julie on Mix 101.5 in Raleigh, North Carolina recently. I do this on a regular basis but it’s still kind of crazy. I mean, I’ve known those guys FOREVER, like back when we were all single people (most people think G&J are a bizarre form of twins who were born married). It’s also crazy because I was born in North Carolina and have elementary school buddies who live in Raleigh and can listen when I’m on-the-air. I don’t know if they actually DO listen but I still think that’s kind of cool.
I did a “Summer Wrap-Up” segment with G&J this week, where we discussed movies you need to see in the theater before the season ends. I took most of July and parts of August off, so I missed some movies that have gotten FANTASTIC reviews. I made a special list for those guys, as well. You’ll have to forgive me for my #1 pick and don’t worry. I’ve already gotten LOADS of flack about that one. Click HERE for a link to the podcast, featuring my Top 5 Summer Movies Not To Miss. Thanks again to Gene & Julie. I always love talking to you guys!
Take the Avengers movies and remove everything you liked about them. Take out the witty banter, the intriguing backstories, and the great special effects. Also, suck out as much charisma and sex-appeal as possible from the sexy and charismatic actors. Then insert awkward silences, angry stares and copious plot holes. Voila! You have Fantastic Four! I was TERRIFIED about being on TV today but I think it went pretty well. I DID say “disingenuine” which I’m pretty sure isn’t even a word, but I held it together otherwise. Thanks again to Christine Visneau of Veecaravan for outfitting me and to everyone at Good Morning Texas for having me on. I’ll be back next month to review Jurassic World and I heard they might have something fun/scary in store!
I went to see Tony Zazza because he SAID he wanted to talk about the Avengers: Age of Ultron. HE LIED! Evidently, Tony had a “bone to pick” with me and boy, did he ever! I thought he might jump across the desk & stab me with a Sharpie at one point. Click HERE and go to Podcast #24 to hear what happened but WATCH OUT for that Tony Zazza. You wouldn’t like him when he’s angry!
