You probably know that Fences has already been nominated for 2 Golden Globes. Denzel Washington (who also directed it) got a Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama nod, while Viola Davis was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role. That’s great, but did you know that Fences has already won a Pulitzer Prize? See, playwright August Wilson originally brought it to the stage in 1983, and Fences went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1987, as well as a Tony Award for Best Play.
